LACTIC ACID BACTERIUM WITH HIGH ACID-RESISTANCE, GROWTH RATE AND ABILITY OF REDUCING THE CONCENTRATION OF CHOLESTEROL IN BLOOD

摘要

PURPOSE: A lactic acid bacterium is provided which has high acid-resistance, bile acid-resistance and growth rate and reduces effectively the concentration of cholesterol in blood. CONSTITUTION: The stool obtained from the Korean healthy adults is cultured in MRS liquid media containing 0.02% sodium azide at 37°C for 24 hours. The culture collected is smeared onto MRS agar plate media containing 0.02% sodium azide and cultured at 37°C for 48 hours. The strain which shows acid-resistance and bile acid-resistance is screened to be Lactobacillus acidophilus according to its morphological, physiological and growing properties. This lactic acid bacterium is named Lactobacillus acidophilus SNUL 01 (the deposition number:KFCC-11041).
