PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a gas jetting method which reduces NOx unburned components of a combustion gas most efficiently by maximizing penetration force within a range of a flow rate and a pressure difference of a gas supply source allowable by presently available boilers to reflect it on the development of burners. SOLUTION: In a burner which jets a gas toward a stream of pulverized coal flowing to a combustion furnace from a primary nozzle 1 at the center part of the burner from the outer circumference part of the primary nozzle 1, at least one gas jetting port 12 is provided in the circumferential direction of a flame holder 6 installed at a primary nozzle outlet. This enables the establishing of a gas jetting method to reduce NOx unburned components of a combustion gas most efficiently (including the form of a jetting hole provided for a gas jetting nozzle, the layout position of the gas jetting nozzles and the like).
