PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a thermoplastic polyurethane resin excellent in mechanical strength, flexibility and low-temperature characteristics and good in injection moldability or extrusion moldability. SOLUTION: This method for producing a thermoplastic polyurethane resin comprises mixing and stirring a long-chain polyol having 500-5,000 number- average molecular weight and heated at 100-160 deg.C with 1,3-propanediol heated at 100-160 deg.C just before reaction with a diisocyanate and then reacting the resultant reactional mixture with the diisocyanate or simultaneously stirring, mixing and reacting the three components in the method for producing the thermoplastic polyurethane resin from the long-chain polyol, the short-molecular diol and the diisocyanate.
