PURPOSE: A planar coil capable of being used as a power inductor or a magnetic actuator which has a low manufacturing cost is provided. CONSTITUTION: The planar coil according to the present invention comprises a substrate(26) having a central opening(26a) formed thereof; coil patterns(28a,28a') formed on the substrate(26); and metal seed patterns(34a,34a') formed between the substrate(26) and the coil patterns(28a,28a'). The planar coil further comprises an electrical connecting portion(30) for applying an electrical current to the coil patterns(34a,34a'). The electrical connecting portion(30) is formed at a one side of the central opening(26a) by using electro-plating. The planar coil can be used as a power inductor by installing a coil made of a soft magnetic material in the central opening(26a).
