PURPOSE: A reflective type LCD and manufacturing method thereof is provided, which forms a plurality of asperity on an upper portion of a protecting film and a reflective film for covering a plurality of asperity. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method comprises the steps of: successively depositing a gate electrode (200), a semiconductor layer (400) corresponding to the gate electrode (200), a gate insulating layer (300) between a semiconductor layer (400) and a gate electrode (200), and a protecting film (800) on an insulating substrate (100) which a source/drain electrode (610, 620) to be coupled to the semiconductor layer (400) is formed; performing a patterning of the protecting film (800) and forming a contact hole (810); depositing an asperity material, performing a photo engraving and forming a plurality of asperity on the upper portion of the protecting film (800); and depositing a transparent material and forming a reflective film (900). Since the height of the asperity is determined by depositing of the asperity material, the height is easily adjusted.
