A portable tool for making and implanting metal spirals uses metal wire taken from a spool and passed through a guide by grooved and toothed heels and onto a spiral-grooved metal cylinder with a spacer ring and a cutter to cut the spiral to the required length. The wire guide is in the form of a plastic tube cut away to allow the wire to be passed along it by the grooved wheels, and the cutter consists of an armwith snips actuated by a gear-driven cam.
