The device uses a balloon to lift the camera and mounting. The camera support comprises a balloon (1) and a support structure (2). The support structure comprises an inverted tripod with the balloon captured between the three legs. The apex of the tripod carries a motorised drive for supporting and controlling the position of a video camera. A cable (4) trails from the camera down to a convenient point on the ground. The support is allowed to rise with the lift of the balloon, until the tripod legs touch the ceiling of the sports hall or stadium, so that it finds a stable position against the ceiling.
