The holder (1) is made from a flexible material, e.g. plastic injection-moulded in one piece, or a metal, and has an elastic clip (2, 4) on each end for attaching to the door handle (3) and key (5). The body of the holder measures about 5.7 cm long by 1 cm wide. In variants of the design the holder is made as an integral part of the handle, or can be made from two sliding components which allow it to be lengthened or shortened.
