Filter consists of a large pore reticulated polyurethane foam to whose stems adsorbents are adhered with the aid of hot melt-type adhesive. The adhesive is applied at between 120 - 180 deg C onto the base and squeezed with heated rollers to leave a glue to base ratio of 90 - 110 wt.%. The activated charcoal is heated before it is applied. After cooling and setting, any excess loose particles are removed by shaking. The particle size is matched to the pore size of the base foam so that a ratio of particle size to pore size of between 1:4 and 1:3 is achieved. In practical terms the particles will then be between 0,3 and 0,8 mm in diameter. The adsorbents are made of activated charcoal.
