Method and device for controlling a brake system

A braking requirement value is determined from the brake pedal operating properties. During determination of the braking requirement valve, a set point value is determined from characteristic curves. Curve 1 is if the quantity is rising and curve 2 is if the quantity is falling, and the dashed characteristic curves if the direction of the quantity changes before maximum value is reached. The difference between the curves represents the hysteresis in the brake system.
