According to the invention, sealing means are arranged between both engine parts (10, 11) in order to produce a sealing between two engine parts (10, 1 1) that, together, enclose a space (14) in which, at least at times, a high pressure and/or a high temperature prevail(s). Said sealing means comprise a hardenable composition (30). The hardenable composition (30) is deposited in liquid form directly on one or both engine parts (10, 11) at least in the ar ea which does not directly border the space (14) in which, at least at times, a high pressure and/or a high temperature prevail(s). Both engine parts are assembled before the composition (30) hardens. A gasket ring can be inserted between both engine parts (10, 11), directly around the edge of the space (1 4) of high pressure and high temperature, or this edge can be slightly heightened, and the hardenable composition (30) can be used for sealing outside this area. The gasket ring can be placed in a recess of a contact surface (12) of the peripheral wall of the chamber (14), whereby the recess is designed in such a way that the pressure necessary for sealing is exerted on the gasket ring when both engine parts (10, 11) are assembled. The engine parts can be the engine block (10) and the cylinder head (11) of a piston engine.
