The device (1) comprises a spring with two vibrating sections (20,20') at the ends of masses. The phases of the movement of the two masses and of the base point (11) are measured by accelerometers (30,31,32). The differences are compared to the base point maintained at 90 degrees by moving masses (21,21') using motors (24) to bring about the necessary change in resonance. The spring (10) is in the form of e.g. a piece of sheet metal or fiber composite material or leaf spring. An Independent claim is also included for a method of reducing the vibrations of a structure.
