Sodium fluoride (NaF) is prepared from sodium lye and hydrogen fluoride (HF) or hydrofluoric acid (HFA) by separate addition of HF or HFA and a less than 45 wt.% (especially 20-40 wt.%) sodium lye into a saturated NaF suspension in which 4-50 (especially 5-30) wt.% of NaF is suspended. The temperature of this suspension is 20-80 (especially 30-60) deg C.
