The braking control method adjusts the air gap between the brake pads and the brake discs of the electrically operated wheel brakes, upon release of the brakes, in dependence on the velocity of the vehicle, such that the gap is increased above a given threshold velocity and/or when an automatic velocity regulation function is selected. An Independent claim for a braking control device is also included.
