The cable connector (1) has a conductive contact (15) permanently connected to the conductive contact (14) of an inserted cable plug (4) via a soldered or welded connection (16). A releasable electrical connection can be provided between the connector and the cable plug via a molded element (11) of the cable plug fitting into a corresponding seating of the cable connector. Independent claims are included for the following; (a) a method for forming a permanent electrical connection; and (b) an application of a cable connector for a releasable electrical connection.
