Fluorination of plastic components by maintaining vacuum after fluorination until unconverted fluorine has diffused from the plastic

A reactor containing the component is evacuated and inert gas and fluorine gas pumped in. Gas in the reactor is circulated during both evacuation and fluorination and maintained at /- 40 deg C. After fluorination a vacuum is again established and held until non-converted fluorine molecules have diffused out of the plastic component.
