The ballast deck stabiliser for a gas monitor has a seal, integrated with the deck (8) moving on a central guide tube (6), which is annular and surrounded by the oil prestorage chamber (19). The central guide is sealed by a membrane (23). The guide (10) is formed as a ring flange supported on the central guide tube via ball or slide bearings.
