A selective coating method, comprising selective light irradiation of a substrate with light-dependent electrical properties in a solution of a substance which becomes insoluble in an electric field, is new. A selective coating method comprises photo-induced coating of a substrate material, which has electrical properties dependent on the incident light intensity, using a solution of a soluble substance which becomes insoluble in an electric field. The substrate material is selectively irradiated so that the soluble substance becomes insoluble by means of the irradiation-modified electric field and precipitates onto the substrate material.
