A water-absorbent composite in the form of a sheet comprising, as main components, a fiber base material in a web form, a super water-absorbent res in and a binder component which combines both the materials, characterized in that the composite may be prepared by a method wherein (a) the fiber base material in a web form is a non-bonded web being almost free of a bonding between fibers thereof, (b) a liquid mixture system which comprises a medium containing the super water-absorbent resin and the binder component as main components is used, (c) the liquid mixture system is added to the fiber base material in a web form for combining them, to thereby form a composite web, (d) a liquid component is separated from the composite web, to thereby perfo rm the fixing of the super water-absorbent resin to the fiber base material in a web form and the bonding between individual webs of the fiber substrate in a web form at the same time. A method for preparing such a super water-absorbe nt composite in the form of a sheet is also provided. |
