A venting valve for the compressor in a gas turbine engine comprises an axially sliding ring (2) which controls the amount of compressed air dumped via the lateral outlets (27). The ring is driven by a linkage and is supported with a sliding fitting on the inside on a fixed seal (9) to prevent tilting. In the fully closed position the tip of the ring presses against a flexible hollow seal (10). The seal of the sliding support is made of a glass fibre reinforced low friction material. The ring valve is driven by three equally spaced linkages. |
