Steam generator for steam turbine has super heaters and an intermediate superheater with selective operation to optimize the steam generation

A steam generator for a steam turbine, eg. for electric power generation, has the vaporizer (21) output passed through super heaters (23,24) to produce the optimum steam temperature. An intermediate super heater (25) is mounted between the super heaters and is shielded from them (27,28). If the intermediate super heater is switched off the additional heat transfer to the vaporizer generates more steam. The whole system is controllable to generate the optimum amount and temperature of steam.
