An automotive spring dampener system consists of a rotary dampener which has a wing submerged in a viscous liquid within a housing. A gas spring (10) is coupled to the wing. The spring (10) is located outside and fixed to the housing (2). The spring (10) and win are linked by a mechanical member (12).
