The invention relates to a method for immobilizing microorganisms or enzymes, whereby microorganisms or enzymes are added to a support material. Diatomaceous earth is used as said support material. Preferably, the diatomaceous earth is thermally pre-treated. The thermally pre-treated diatomaceous earth is especially suitable for immobilization. It is far more useful than other support material known per se on account of its widespread availability and low cost. A porous glass body for carrying out said method is also disclosed. Preferably, said glass body consists of over 50 % diatomaceous earth. |
