<p>A modular language translation system allows a user of any one of a variety of different user interfaces to be able to send translation requests to and receive responses from any one of a variety of different translation engines. A user of the system familiar with the user interface of a first type of translation system, such as one that translates from Japanese to English, can use that user interface to get translations from the translation engine of a second type of translation system, such as a Russian-to-English system, without having to learn the particularities of the second system and its interface. The user interfaces and the translation engines communicate via a distributed object protocol.</p> |
