The invention concerns a mechanical device for accurate geometric management and clamping of a mechanical element or a sheet metal assembly such as a motor vehicle body, through piloting holes provided therefor. Said device consists of a hollow pilot (1) equipped with at least two retractable hooks (2) and driven by a piston (3) provided with a groove (3), the whole assembly being mounted on a supporting nosepiece. The piston is locked in clamping position by a three-point system (8) actuated by a pneumatic cylinder (10). The device assembly is integrated in a housing (9). Said device is designed to equip fixed or mobile posts for assembling vehicles, or clamping arms.
