PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which has a high density and excellent repetitive durability by ameliorating the occurrence of crosstalk erasure and amplitude degradation at the time of repetitive recording. SOLUTION: This optical recording medium is laminated with at least a first protective layer, recording layer and second protective layer in this order on a substrate, allows the recording, erasing and reproducing of information by irradiating this recording layer with light and is subjected to the recording and erasing of the information by the phase transition between an amorphous phase and a crystalline phase. At this time, the first protective layer or second protective layer of the optical recording medium consists essentially of SiNxOy (x, y are 1.9<=x<=1.3, 0<y<(2/3)x) by atomic ratio. |
