PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recognition device by which top and bottom are surely recognized even when an original set for reading is tilted. SOLUTION: The image recognition device is provided with a tilt detection section 125 that detects a tilt of a set original and a tilt correction section 170 that corrects image data with low resolution stored in a 1st low resolution recognition memory 160 based on the tilt of the original detected by the tilt detection section 125 and top and bottom of an original is recognized by using image data where the tilt of the original is corrected by the tilt correction section 170.
