PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image distribution system and an image distribution method capable of changing a distribution destination by a simple operation, shortening communication time and distributing the image of high resolution. SOLUTION: In this image distribution system, a distribution destination group is constituted of some plural image communication equipment, which are capable of transmitting and receiving image data, distribution destination group information for specifying the distribution destination group is stored in a storage device 113 on an image server 110. When the image server 110 receives the distribution request of the image data together with distribution destination information from one of the plural image communication equipment, the image data are distributed to the respective image communication equipment for constituting the distribution destination group specified by the distribution destination information. In the image distribution system, a distribution management means 112 returns all distribution destination group names to a digital composite machine 120, corresponding to a group registration request when group registration is requested from an input operation means provided in the digital composite machine 120 and registers the digital composite machine 120 in the specified distribution destination group, when the specific distribution destination group is specified from the digital composite machine 120.
