PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerator system which can be lessened in manufacturing cost and size. SOLUTION: An acceleration system comprises an electromagnet which consists of a pair of magnetic poles 1a and 1b, a return yoke 3, and magnetizing coils 4 and 5, wherein empty spaces 2a to 2g are arranged inside the magnetic poles 1a and 1b. The empty spaces 2a to 2g are of air layers which resemble race tracks in the longitudinal section and formed like slits that extend long in the traveling direction of a beam. The empty spaces are arranged on the right side of the center of a beam orbit, and the space between the adjacent spaces becomes narrower as it approaches a right side edge.
