PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate similar but, different kinds of cartridges by providing deletion sections which are formed by deleting the external surface parallel to the disk surface of a disk against a different kind of a disk cartridge as a discriminating means and a stopping means. SOLUTION: A CD caddie discrimination hole 4s is provided on a side surface section 4c of a shutter 4 and a projecting section 210 is provided on a device 200 side corresponding to the hole 4s at the position where a disk cartridge is inserted to an innermost position. Then, the insertion of the disk cartridge is completed only when the section 210 fits into the hole 4s. When a sensor detects the fact that the cartridge is completely inserted to the completion position, the entire disk cartridge is moved to the disk rotation direction and the loading is completed for a reproducing. Since a CD caddie has no hole 4s, the section 4c of the shutter 4 impacts against the tip of the section 210 and an insertion is not completed.
