PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator type multistory automatic parking system which enables sharp retrenchment of the cost of manufacture and maintenance of a vehicle parking system and also maximization of the efficiency of use of a pallet motor. SOLUTION: This system is equipped with a lift 10 which is movable upward and downward in the vertical direction along an elevation path H in a state of loading with a vehicle and a plurality of pallets 20 which are movable from a parking room R of each story to the elevation path R or from the elevation path H to each parking room R in the horizontal direction respectively and provided for parking the vehicle. It is equipped, besides, with at least one pallet driving motor which is rotatable in normal and reverse directions for providing a power in the horizontal direction in common to the pallets, a power transmitting means for transmitting the power from the driving motor to each pallet 20 and a clutch for connecting or cutting off the power transmission of the power transmitting means.
