PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive composition useful for producing sustained- release tablets, excellent in flowability and mixability, by using granules comprising specific amounts of a hydrophilic matrix base and an inert medicament filler and having a specified loose apparent density and a specific angle of repose. SOLUTION: This additive composition useful for producing sustained-release tablets comprises granules comprising (A) 50-100 wt.% of a hydrophilic matrix base and (B) 0-50 wt.% of an inert medicament filler and having a loose apparent density of >=0.35 g/ml and an angle of repose of <=40 deg.. A compound selected from among hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, methylcellulose and sodium caboxymethylcellulose is preferably used as the component A. A compound selected from among lactose, saccharose, fructose, dexstrin, cyclodexstrin, crystalline cellulose, powdery cellulose, mannitol, xylitol and sorbitol is preferably used as the component B.
