PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to surely prevent a display screen from being decreased in brightness occurring at low temperatures with respect to a liquid crystal display device provided with backlight comprising a cold-cathode tube fluorescent lamp. SOLUTION: Relating to a liquid crystal display device provided with an LCD 12 having backlight 10 comprising a cold-cathode tube fluorescent lamp on the back and a display control circuit 14, a temperature sensor 20 is arranged in the neighborhood of the LCD 12 for detecting the temperature, and when the temperature of the LCD 12 (further the backlight 10) is at a set temperature or lower, a control voltage for brightness adjustment generated from a control voltage generating circuit 26 and outputted to a display control circuit 14 is shifted to a higher level side to increase the transmittance of the LCD 12 at the time of displaying an image. As a result, it is possible to prevent the display screen from becoming dark even if the backlight 10 is decreased in brightness at low temperatures.
