PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an exchange system device that executes a new program as a test and executes smooth replacement with an old program and to obtain the method for revising a version of the exchange system. SOLUTION: A temporal storage area 129 is reserved to analyze a command entered from a maintenance console 11 and to start the revision of a program version, a new program is set and operated as a test (130) so as to select whether the new program is set to a program storage area 131, revision of the program version is stopped (127) or other commands than the revision command of the program version are executed. With this configuration, the new program is stored without overwriting the new program on an old program and used in operation as a test. When a noncormity occurs during the operation as a result of the test operation, the maintenance console is used to operate the system with the old program, without restoring the procedure of the revision of the version again from the start.
