PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antibody useful for detection of Alzheimer's disease by using a partial peptide of a specific phosphorylated tau protein as an immunogen. SOLUTION: This antibody is the one against a phosphorylated tau protein obtained by using the phosphorylated tau protein in paired helical filaments as an immunogen. The partial peptide is selected from the group consisting of a protein containing serine residue corresponding to the serine residue in position 199 in an amino acid sequence of the formula, and phosphorylated, and a protein containing threonine residue corresponding to the threonine residue in position 231, and phosphorylated, a protein containing serine residue corresponding to the serine residue in position 235, and phosphorylated, and a protein containing the threonine residue corresponding to the threonine residue in position 231 and the serine residue corresponding to the serine residue in position 235, and phosphorylated. The antibody specifically binds to the partial peptide.
