PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a feed screw from obstructing the recovery of chips and coolant and prevent chips from depositing in a cover mechanism as is observed conventionally. SOLUTION: In a work table feed mechanism of a machine tool constituted in such a way that a work table 3 advances and retracts in the horizontal direction for a tool main spindle along a pair of guide ways 2 parallel with the tool main spindle, a recessed part 4 forming a chip recovery space is formed between a pair of guide ways 2 fixed on a bed 100, and a pair of right and left feed screws 5 are arranged on the outside of a pair of guide ways 2 arranged on the outside of the recessed part 4.
