PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflection type liquid crystal panel having a bright reflection type liquid crystal with one bright polarizing plate and permitting a high contrast display. SOLUTION: This display panel is a reflection type liquid crystal display panel provided with a super-twisted nematic liquid crystal layer 7 with a twist of 180-260 degrees, a polarizing plate 10 and a reflection coating 3 interposing the super-twisted nematic liquid crystal layer 7 in-between, and phase-plates 8 and 9 of at least one sheet arranged between the polarizing plate 10 and the liquid crystal layer 7, and Z coefficient = (nz-np)/(ns-np) is made small on the liquid crystal layer side and made large on the polarizing plate side, when a refractive index in the direction of the lagging phase axis is np; a refractive index in the direction of the advanced axis is ns; and the refractive index in the direction of thickness is nz, concerning the phase plate 9 nearest to the polarizing plate among the phase plates. |
