PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an additive which can be stored more stably and for a longer time than before by improving water separation property of a water paste of a carbonaceous minute powder. SOLUTION: This additive for a water paste of a carbonaceous minute powder contains a poly(meth)acrylic acid polymer having 100,000-5,000,000 wt. average mol.wt. The water paste compsn. of carbonaceous minute powder comprises 50-85 wt.% carbonaceous minute powder, 0.1-10 metal carbonate, and 0.001-2 wt.% poly(meth)acrylic acid polymer having 100,000-5,000,000 wt. average mol.wt. The water paste of the carbonaceous minute powder contg. the poly(meth)acrylic acid polymer as an essential component is useful not only as a boiler fuel for power and general industries but also as a combustion improver for economizing cokes used in a blast furnace and metallurgical furnaces in iron and steel industry.
