PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure large output displacement by a compact structure by superposing ultra- magnetostriction elements in a stratified shape and connecting each ultra-magnetostriction element via a displacement transmission member. SOLUTION: When current is inputted into an electromagnetic coil 30 for operation, generated magnetic field acts on ultra-magnetostriction elements 21, 23 via a collar 31, a flange 22a, a collar 21 and these ultra-magnetrostriction elements 21, 23 are elongated/contracted. The collar 31, the flange 22a and the collar 21 are constituted of magnetic bodies. If each ultra-magnetrostriction element 21, 23 is energized so as to extend in the right direction against force of a disc spring 52 for pre-load, a right side free end is displaced in the ultra- magnetrostriction element 23 and this displacement is imparted to ultra-magnetostriction element 21 via a displacement transmission member 22. Because also the ultra-magnetostriction 21 itself extends in the right direction, displacement imparted to an output rod 40 after all, that is, output displacement of a composite ultra-magnetostriction element 20 becomes one in which displacement of the ultra-magnetostriction element 23 and displacement of the ultra- magnetrostriction 21 are superposed. Conversely, in the same way also when ultra- magetostriction element is energized in a contracting direction, displacement that displacement of each ultra-magnetostriction element is superposed becomes output displacement.
