PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a compensating cable from projecting over a roller of a guide device or being caught between edges to be fixed or broken by arranging at least a specified number of rollers to form a guide port to be polygonal such as octagonal or more. SOLUTION: A guide device has a frame 17, and at least eight rollers 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 are formed through roller fitting brackets 26, 27, 28, 29 to make a guide port for a compensating cable octagonal. By this arrangement, each clearance gap among the rollers 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25 and each difference in level among them are minimized. Thus, even if the compensating cable is inserted horizontally to the guide device, the compensating able can be smoothly guided without being caught among the rollers 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. Accordingly, there is no possibility that the compensating able is fixed to the guide device and broken.
