PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an exchange work for exchanging ribbons of ribbon cassettes such as ink ribbon cassettes, etc., without damaging the ribbons. SOLUTION: An exchange ribbon R wound to a let-off core 30 and having a guide member 100 shaped like a rod in a breadthwise direction at a leading end and, a take-up core 40 having a reception groove 42 for the guide member 100 are prepared. The guide member 100 held by a hand is moved along a ribbon travel path of a ribbon cassette, whereby the ribbon R is stretched to the ribbon travel path. Thereafter, the guide member 100 is set to the reception groove 42 of the take-up core 40. The ribbon R is completely exchanged accordingly.
