PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the video recording unit by which a recording area of an image memory is efficiently used. SOLUTION: The video recording unit 2 that records a video image sent from a camera doorphone slave set 1 to a video doorphone master set 4 is provided with a picture recording means 24 that records a still picture, a call detection means 28 that detects an operation of a call switch 12, a speech detection means 30 that detects a speech, a video switch 22 and the image recording means records an image when a call switch is depressed and when the video recording switch 22 is depressed during a speech, the recorded image is overwritten on the recorded image precedingly. Thus, duplicate recording of an image of a same visitor is avoided.
