PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good contrast display regardless of the brightness and the darkness of a frame. SOLUTION: A plasma display device 100 is provided with a distribution computing means 91, by which a set of subfields equivalent to one frame is divided into subfield groups, a gradation display is conducted by assigning the addressing preparation interval to make the electrostatic condition of the entire screen at the beginning of the subfield groups and the luminance distribution of plural frames including a target frame is computed, a luminance discriminating means 92, which discriminates the computed luminance distribution in accordance with a setting condition, and a control means 81 which selects one frame among plural frames having different number of subfield groups based on the result of the discrimination of the luminance distribution and applies the frame to the gradation display of the target frame. |
