PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject apparatus in a state capable of being accurately and uniformly controlled and in a state simplified in the structure and assembling, a controlling means of which is formed so as to be able to change spacing in the radial direction between card cloths of a roller and of a carding segment. The controlling means belong to both end parts of at least one carding segment equipped with a card cloth placed in a position facing the card cloth of a roller rotating at high speed. SOLUTION: This apparatus is assembled in such a way that spacing in the radial direction between the card cloth 4a of a roller and the card cloths 24'a and 24'b can be controlled by the position and/or shape of flexible mounting layers 20, and the layers 20 are each placed between each end part of carding segments 17a-17n and a supporting face 19 for fixing the position of a machine.
