<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a packaging material by applying a smooth and printable finishing layer on the surface of a paper base material and providing the reverse face with, via a highly adhesive substrate layer, a moisture-impermeable article- facing layer so as to afford the double layer on the reverse face with high adhesive force. SOLUTION: This packaging material consisting mainly of paper is obtained by the following process: the surface of a paper base material is coated with a coating liquid containing an inorganic powder mixture comprising clay and calcium carbonate and/or titanium oxide and a binder such as starch or polyvinyl alcohol to provide a finishing layer affording smooth and printable surface, and the reverse face is coated with a formulation composed of calcium carbonate and clay in the weight ratio of about (50:50) at 1.36-3.63 kg/278.7 m2 to form a highly adhesive substrate layer which, in turn, coated with a coloring material-contg. chloroethylene-vinyl copolymer at 1.36-4.08 kg/278.7 m2 to form a moisture-impermeable article-facing layer so as to afford the double layer on the reverse face with high adhesive force.</p> |
