PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip inductor, where a coil is large in cross sectional area and an inner conductor is low in resistance and large in current capacity and which can be easily manufactured. SOLUTION: This chip inductor is equipped with a core tube 41, a coil 42 wound on the core tube 41, a covering body that surrounds the core tube 41 and the coil 42, and outer electrodes that are electrically connected to the ends 42a and 42b of the coil 42 and provided to the surface of the covering body, wherein the covering body is formed through a manner in which a slurry composed of a solvent and an inorganic powder dispersed in solvent is formed into a covering body through a cast molding process, where solute in slurry is dried up, cured, and heat treated.
