PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas spring of a general type which has an especially simple structure, is handled easily, has a starter, and adjusts the length. SOLUTION: This length-adjustable gas spring is so constituted as providing a housing and a valve. The valve is provided with an operation lever 24 which crosses in its longitudinal direction, is so attached as to be pivotally rotated, and becomes movable by pivotally rotated from the lock position to the opening position of the valve. Bowden cable 47 acts on an external arm 25 of an operation lever 24 as a starker 41, its outside tube 46 is held to the housing of the gas spring so as to not displace, and its traction wire 50 acts on the external arm 25.
