PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt diagnostic device for a passenger conveyor driving machine, capable of recognizing something wrong with a belt tension, and of reducing the inoperative time of a passenger conveyor for inspection's sake. SOLUTION: This belt diagnostic device is equipped with a first speed detector 12 detecting the speed of a electric motor, a second speed detector 13 detecting the speed of a reduction gear, a motor output operation part 14a operating an output of the motor on the basis of a detected value of the first speed detector 12, a belt slip operation part 14b operating a belt slip on the basis of both detected values of these first and second speed detectors 12 and 13, a belt tension diagnosing part 14c diagnosing a belt tension on the basis of both operated values of these motor output and the belt slip operations parts 14a and 14b, a storage part 14d storing a diagnosed value of this belt tension diagnosing part 14c, and a communication part 14e communicating the storage information of this storage part 14d to a monitor center 15 respectively, through which the belt tension is made so as to quantitatively diagnosed through no operator.
