1288926 Storage of an organic transplant AGA AB 17 Nov 1969 [26 Nov 1968] 56057/69 Heading A2D A device for the storage and blood perfusion of organic tissues comprises a chamber capable of holding gas under increased pressure and in which is located the transplant, an oxygenator in the chamber, a pump in the chamber for maintaining a stream of oxygenated blood to the transplant, a motor positioned outside the chamber and a transmission member connecting the motor and pump through the wall of the chamber in an air tight manner. A suitable device is shown in the Fig., wherein the transplant L is slidably positioned in the chamber V. Blood from the transplant passes via the oxygenator OX to the pump BP, and is returned via tube SL and artery A to the transplant. The pump is externally driven by the motor M. A further pump P, positioned outside the chamber supplies pressurised air or oxygen thereto. (For Figure see next column) |
