A security system for vehicles comprises a control device (12) which can be fitted in a vehicle and which has a programmable internal memory unit arranged for storing operative parameters of the system, an interface (I) associated with the control device (12) for access to the internal memory unit, and at least one non-volatile memory storage unit (M) which is outside the control device (12) and separate therefrom, and which can be coupled to the control device (12) by means of the interface (I). The external memory unit (M) is arranged to perform at least one function selected from the group constituted by: receiving from the internal memory unit a respective set of analysis data indicative of current operative parameters of the system during an analysis stage, and providing the internal memory unit with a respective set of programming data indicative of programmed operative parameters of the system during a programming stage. <IMAGE> |
